Class: Antiemetic
Pharmacology:
Half life: 4hrs
Blocks the serotonin receptors in the CTZ, the stomach, and the small intestines.
Indications: Nausea and vomiting
Contraindications: known hypersensitivity
Cautions: use w/ caution in patients taking serotonin blockers
Dosage:
Adult: 4-8 mg IV/IO/PO
Pediatric: 0.5 mg/kg IV
Side Effects:
Headache
Lightheadedness
Dizziness
Special Considerations:
Pregnancy Safety: Category B
